Alexis Papageorgiou wins SSP in Brno, Czech Republic

The Alpe Adria European Championship had its third round at the famous Brno circuit in the Czech Republic last weekend. The race also counted for the Balkan BMU Championship and last year’s Supersport (SSP) Champion, six-time Champion Alexis Papageorgiou, was present on the Yamaha R6 prepared by the Zen1One Racing team.

With pride and enthusiasm, the Greek driver and his team listened to the National Anthem at the legendary track, which has hosted many MotoGP and WorldSBK races in the past.

The effort began on Thursday with the Free Practices and the introduction of the team and the driver on the unfamiliar track. Friday with the Qualifying Practices found Alexis Papageorgiou and his team having managed to find the appropriate settings for this demanding track that made it difficult for all the teams to find traction. The only Greek driver among the 30 participants, with amazing driving, at the end of the day was ranked 6th in the European Championship in the 600SSP category.

In the first race of the two-day event on Saturday, he took a stunning 2nd place against tough competition in the championship, further raising the level of his driving.

On Sunday, in the 2nd race, having become familiar with the 5,403-meter track and having further improved the settings of his Yamaha R6, Alexis Papageorgiou showed the competition with a driving recital that he wanted to hear the National Anthem by winning the 6th Race of the European Championship. Of course, Alexis was adored by the entire Greek delegation that was on the Czech track.

The team's appointment for the next European Championship race which will take place at another historic track, Rijeka Grobnik, Croatia.

ALEXIS PAPAGEORGIOU – Zen1One Racing Driver

“It was an important moment in my racing life, especially Sunday’s Race where everything worked perfectly and we took the win. It was a joy and emotion to hear our National Anthem on such a track and I want to dedicate this victory to my family who supports me and to my team who prepared a perfect motorcycle for me. The winter training and the overall effort we have started since last year seem to be bearing fruit and I am ready to continue with the same enthusiasm. I would like to take this opportunity to especially thank Antonis Meremetis and Dimitris Papanikolaou of Zen1One for all the work that has been done.”
